Starting pitcher Graham Laubscher picked up right where he left off from his last start, helping Air Freight Unlimited defeat the defending champion Minnetonka Millers 7-1. AFU will play in the first semifinal on Sunday. Game time is scheduled for noon.
After throwing nine innings of shutout ball on the opening weekend, Laubscher took the hill once again and was dominating. Minnetonka managed just six hits in the game with a ninth-inning solo home run by Jack Hanson the lone run given up. Laubscher struck out nine Millers batters after a 15-strikeout performance last week.
Air Freight scored early and never looked back. With two-outs in the first Tommy Cummings picked up hit one of four on the day, driving in Chandler Schaefbauer. A bases-loaded walk made it 2-0 before Danny Scallon singled to send in another pair.
Minnetonka made a pitching change after Schaefbauer began the second with a single. Nathan Pierce picked up an RBI to give Air Freight a 5-0 lead in the second.
The score stayed that way through the middle frames until AFU added a pair in the bottom of the seventh.
